text
BARBARIAN DANCE was originally composed in 1985 for drums and piano as one of Wim Henderickx's earliest compositions with percussion. It is very clear that at that time he had a predilection for jazz music. The work has an inciting rhythmical character. The title is inspired on the work for piano by Béla Bartok ‘Allegro Barbara'. In 2019 he made this version for drums and strings.
