Wim Henderickx Foundation

In July 2025, the Foundation Wim Henderickx vzw was officially established. After two and a half years of hard work on the legacy of composer Wim Henderickx, a group of people who care deeply about Wim's oeuvre and personality decided to formalise the organisation.

Along with organising and supporting a number of posthumous world premieres of Wim's work and supporting research into his oeuvre, one of the next projects is a large-scale Wim Henderickx Festival in the 2027-2028 season, with a concentration of concerts and initiatives in December 2027, five years after Wim's sudden death. Musica, Impulse Centre

In addition to Wim's composition classes at the Conservatories of Antwerp and Amsterdam, there was SoundMine, an initiative of Musica Impulse Centre. Since its inception in 2000, Henderickx was the principal lecturer of this annual international composition course, coaching countless young composers. After his sudden death in December 2022, editions of SoundMine are organised annually as a tribute to his work and pedagogical vision, with regulars Diederik Glorieux (composition) and Jorrit Tamminga (electronics) and new guest coaches each year. The biennial collaborations with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the HERMESensemble also remain a fixture. More information about SoundMine 2026 can be found here: musica.be
Musica was also one of the commissioners of ANTIFOON in 2014, a large-scale project in which 500 professional and amateur musicians formed a living sound sculpture on the Tuikabelbrug bridge between Hasselt and Genk. Kimon Daltas wrote about it in Classical Music Magazine: ARTICLE
Musica still organises @ASTRA (1+), an interactive experience for young children based on excerpts from Henderickx's oeuvre. Diederik Glorieux and Helene Bracke created a unique performance for voice and two percussionists.

Wim Henderickx suddenly died in December 2022

Wim was working on several composition assignments at the same time, which is why, after his sudden death, there were many scores on his desk, most of which were well advanced and almost finished. It would take him more than a decade to realise all his plans and ideas, and he was incredibly excited about it.

'Wim had a unique musical personality. Curiosity and searching. Always on the lookout for intense beauty.  He was impossible to ignore. Once encountered never forgotten. I was privileged to collaborate with this unique spirit on many occasions. Wim is in my heart forever.'
