In this expressionist work, the different emotions of the poems are evoked through various voice techniques.
The piano accompaniment has a supportive and picturesque, suggestive character.
In 2009, the songs were translated into English for performance at Wigmore Hall in London.
The performers (02/01/2010) were South African soprano Erica Eloff and English pianist James Bailleu.
