THE CALL for horn solo was composed in 1992, commissioned by the Orpheus Competition for Contemporary Music in Antwerp. The basic motif is a cell consisting of natural tones of the horn, referring to the hunting horn. A whole range of contemporary horn techniques are incorporated into this piece to create a colourful, sometimes surprising composition.
