MAYA for solo clarinet was composed in 1990 on commission from the Brussels Conservatory. Maya means illusion in Sanskrit. The entire composition is bathed in an Eastern meditative atmosphere. The work consists of four sections that flow into each other without interruption. A whole range of contemporary clarinet techniques are incorporated musically into this composition.
