text
SPIELEREI for piano was composed in 1987. It is a composition for young performers, especially written for the Cantabile Piano Competition in Antwerp. The work contains 3 little parts, with each its own character. The first part LEGGIERO is a light and rhapsodical part, existing from a few pithy motives and clear melodical fragments. The second part CANTILENE is very melodious in the 3/4 measure, with a dreamy atmosphere. The third part ALLEGRO is the most energetic one, with also references to the previous parts. In 2024 carillon player Luc Rombouts made a version of this work for carillon, in close collaboration with Wim Henderickx's musical assistant, Diederik Glorieux.
