Especially for the opening of the open-air installation “Ongrijpbare Tijd” (Elusive Time) and the inauguration of the new market square in Lier (BE) on 27 April 2012, Wim Henderickx composed the song ELUSIVE TIME, which was premiered by Mireille Capelle with live electronics by Jorrit Tamminga.
Later, Wim Henderickx also made a version for soprano and electronics and, even later, for carillon.
The musical journey ONGRIJPBARE TIJD for the five Fountains in Lier became an intimate and poetic work of art inspired by the Nete (river), the bells of the city and the natural elements of earth, water and air. The voice of mezzo-soprano Mireille Capelle was also integrated into this electronic open-air trail.
With this sound installation, Wim Henderickx wanted above all to evoke a poetic reflection in the listener and the passer-by. The sound material was generated by computer, depending on the time of day, the week and even the seasons. These were not concrete melodies, but melodic fragments, linked to the sounds that represent the elements. Each of the 45 underground speakers had a separate sound. Passers-by could interpret this music in their own way.
Wim Henderickx's aim was to stimulate the senses of the residents of Lier and visitors to the city through the beauty of the architecture and the five fountains (designed by Robbrecht and Daem Architects), combined with the unreality of the music.
The installation concept was realised in collaboration with Jorrit Tamminga.
