text
This work was composed in 2008 for the Belgian Chamber Philharmonic (Casco Phil) with Benjamin Haemhouts as conductor and artistic director.
It is inspired by Mozart's “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”.
Ethnic percussion forms a prominent part of this composition, with the use of bendir, riq and derbuka, but the English horn also plays an important role in this work.
The work flows from Een Totale Entführung, the music theatre production that Wim Henderickx and Ramsey Nasr realised in 2006.
