text
This work is a purely instrumental version of Olek schoot een Beer... (Olek shot a Bear...) for narrator and instrumental ensemble, which was composed in 2005-2006 on commission from Jeugd en Muziek Vlaanderen (Youth and Music Flanders), for which Bart Moeyaert (author and Antwerp city poet 2006-2007) wrote the text.
The choice of instruments was inspired by Stravinsky's “L'histoire du soldat”, namely clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, violin, double bass and percussion.
In this composition, written especially for young people, Wim Henderickx has attempted to write music that appeals to the imagination, without making any concessions in terms of musical language.
