MARIA was composed on commission from the Toonkunst Philharmonic Choir Rotterdam and Maria van Nieukerken, on the occasion of “Night of the Proms-010” in Rotterdam.
It is a short work, inspired by the name Maria and two great “classics” from music literature: MARIA from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and MARIA MARIA by Carlos Santana.
