Wim Henderickx originally composed this work in the version Cello Concerto (Sangita) in 2018, commissioned by the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, where he had been artist-in-residence since 2013.
In 2019, he created this version for cello and electronics.
The Sanskrit word Sangita refers to music and performing arts from Indian traditions.
Cello Concerto contains nine episodes, each representing different “rasas” or states of mind, inspired by the Sangita Ratnakara texts of Carngadeva.
