RONDDOLEN (WANDERING)

for bass clarinet

RONDDOLEN was originally composed for BASSOON SOLO in 1987.

The work gives the bassoon/bass clarinet player and the public the chance to communicate and it also utilizes many possibilities of the instrument.

The material for this composition was drained out of the melodical processing of overtone series.

The work contains 3 parts.

The first part presents the leading motive, from a distance - 'Lontano' - which evolves gradually.

The second part starts with an 'Agitato', followed by a passage where the repeating of the low note 'D flat' represents a feeling of doubt.

The third part is a slow 'Cantilene', interrupted by melodical arabesques.
