ORPHEUS: MAGIC SINGER IN THE UNDERWORLD

for children’s choir and piano

This work was commissioned by Ars Musica and the Koninklijke Muntschouwburg (La Monnaie) in 2002.

It is a work on a text by Wim Henderickx. He created words partly by imitating sounds, percussion and other instruments.
Orpheus was created in La Monnaie in 2003 with a choir of 600 children.

This rhythmical, inciting work tries to give an impression of the Underworld.
The aim is to stimulate the imagination of these young singers.
